The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) currently is accepting the public’s opinion on replacing a drainage pipe under Interstate 480 near exit two in North Olmsted, just east of the Lorain County line.

According to ODOT, the improvement will be done in 2023 and will last one construction season.

ODOT is taking public input until Sept.15, according to a news release.

This project will reline the 15-foot corrugated metal drainage structure under I-480 located just east of the Lorain County line in North Olmsted, the release said.

The transportation department said that traffic will be maintained through the entirety of the construction.

“Knowing ODOT, they are going to keep the freeway open,” said North Olmsted Service Director Kevin Kearny.

There also is a chance that the interstate at that juncture might not even be shut down, Kearney said.

If the highway were to close, the transportation would shut down one to two lanes at a time, he said.

North Ridgeville Mayor Kevin Corcoran said that he and his engineer talked about this specific project and that it will have no impact on the city.
