Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez confirmed on November 22 that the construction of Turkey’s Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea region has been completed and the first batch of submarine pipelines will be laid in the spring of 2022.

The submarine pipeline laying will be carried out in cooperation with Saipem, an Italian multinational oilfield services company, which will transport and install the pipeline in the spring of 2022.

Dönmez explained that by then the country's fourth drilling ship that can operate in severe sea conditions and even in high-pressure reservoirs will be ready.

After the country's first drilling ship Fatih discovered 405 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Sakarya oil field last year, exploration in the Black Sea is still in progress.

The second subsequent discovery was 135 bcm in June, which brought the cumulative gas discovery to 540 bcm.

In July, the evaluation test of No. 2 and No. 3 reservoirs of Türkali-2 well in Sakarya oil field also made progress.

Last week, the Türkali-2 well No. 1 reservoir test found a daily gas production of 650,000 cubic meters.
